Quality Engineer
ShipperHQ is looking for a Software QA Engineer who’s passionate about quality, precision, and continuous improvement. If you’re excited to dig into complex systems, identify issues before users do, and help deliver a reliable, high-performing product to thousands of e-commerce businesses, we’d love to hear from you.
About Us:
ShipperHQ is headquartered in Austin, TX, and is transforming the way e-commerce businesses manage shipping. Since 2009, we’ve provided innovative shipping software that helps both SMBs and enterprise customers optimize their operations and achieve better results. Our team members span the globe, and we’re united by a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and impact. We’re looking for ambitious, self-motivated individuals with a positive attitude who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and are excited to help shape the future of e-commerce shipping.
What You’ll Do:
As a Quality Engineer, you’ll be at the center of ensuring that every product release meets our high standards for quality and performance. You’ll collaborate with developers and product managers, writing automated tests alongside manual QA to deliver a smooth and reliable user experience.
- Design and develop automated test frameworks: Build and scale automated test suites, including AI-assisted and dynamically generated test cases, that drive efficiency and consistency across the product lifecycle.
- Execute manual test cases: Identify defects, verify functionality, and confirm that products meet business requirements through hands-on testing of features and user flows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Product and Development to understand requirements, clarify expected outcomes, and ensure test coverage aligns with user needs.
- Document and track defects: Record test results, reproduction steps, and defect details with clarity, enabling efficient triage and resolution with the dev team.
- Support CI/CD pipelines: Integrate automated tests into GitLab workflows to continuously validate builds across cloud environments and maintain fast feedback loops.
- Promote automation best practices: Champion an automation-first mindset using Claude Code and other GenAI-enabled tools, helping the team move toward greater self-service testing over time.
- Drive engineering excellence: Advocate for best practices in performance testing, cross-platform consistency, and software quality standards.
- Navigate ambiguity: Work independently, make sound decisions quickly, and adapt to a fast-moving environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks, including writing and debugging automated test scripts
- Practical experience with Playwright or similar browser automation tools (Cypress, etc.)
- Experience with or strong interest in integration testing
- Ability to write moderately complex SQL queries (MySQL or similar)
- Familiarity with container frameworks (Docker) and Unix/Linux shell
- Experience using Git or other version control systems
- Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms such as GitLab or Bitbucket
- Practical experience using AI tools (Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, etc.) to write code, generate test cases, and accelerate automation workflows
- Systemic thinker with an end-to-end mindset and experience navigating cross-functional teams and complex business systems
- Analytical and detail-oriented with a natural curiosity to uncover issues before they reach users
- Strong project leadership with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
- Proactive problem solver who thrives in dynamic, evolving environments and can balance speed with quality
If you meet most but not all qualifications, we encourage you to apply. We value potential and learning agility.
